Victoria plans to pump 60 million tonnes CO2 a year, underground into onshore and offshore water systems

 The Victorian Government announced the first grants from Energy Technology Innovation Strategy (ETIS) fund for new large-scale, pre-commercial Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) demonstration projects in Victoria. This was connected to the seven CO2 dump exploration licences opened for bid in March 2009, and not yet concluded. One of the offshore Release areas GIPP-01, GIPP-02 and GIPP-03: Gippsland Basin, appears above.

 The volume was 60MT of carbon emissions annually: The CO2 was to come from coal fuelled industrial and electricity plants  - the stationary energy sector in the Latrobe Valley -  to "three promising large scale offshore storage sinks within 200km, together with moderate onshore storage potential.."   ...Log in to read rest of Article or image.
