Operator warns of risks: This table shows capacity reduction caused by water shortage, (full rated generation) and does not include generation over time.
drought- capacity reductions: The aggregate reductions to generation capacity in the NEM regions due to the drought- capacity reductions show:
- total MW reduction for each region; and
- percentage of the total installed capacity.
Reduced ability to generate due to drought: Generation capacity reduction refers to a reduction in the ability of the generator to produce electrical power output in megawatts (MW).
Based on current water allocations: (This was zero in most of Victoria, and South Australia at 1 July, but was higher at the time these scenarios were run).
Nice if you can get it: “These capacity reductions are based on the current water allocation and NEMMCO (now AEMO) understands that Jurisdictions may consider allocation of additional water to the affected power stations if customer electricity supplies were threatened during these periods”.
