    Australian Competition Tribunal overules AER , allows untendered Victoria Advanced Interval Meter Rollout contract billed to end users

     Victorian small consumer tariffs would increase about 3 per cent on top of other rises, after a 25 January ruling by the Australian Competition Tribunal  overuled a determination by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) and allowed an untendered  internal contract between related firms (AIMRO Services Requirements) for Advanced Interval Meter Rollout (AIMRO) to Alinta Asset Management,  to get billed to end customers. This decision allowed  fees of $13.1 million by  United Energy Distribution Pty Ltd (UED) to be billed to end users. (Full Article)

    Victoria plans to pump 60 million tonnes CO2 a year, underground into onshore and offshore water systems

     The Victorian Government announced the first grants from Energy Technology Innovation Strategy (ETIS) fund for new large-scale, pre-commercial Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) demonstration projects in Victoria. This was connected to the seven CO2 dump exploration licences opened for bid in March 2009, and not yet concluded.      Pipelines from pollutors would pipe high pressure CO2 at state expense. The  big pollutors also hoped for more money, channeled from the Australian Government sponsored Global Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
